Pineapple House: Pink Hard Hats and The Power of Color

Safety on construction sites is enhanced with pink hard hats that workers have to wear if they forget their own.

Pineapple House designers often make construction site visits, like the one we did this week for a high-rise build-out we are orchestrating in Atlanta.  Designers Katie Moorhouse and Seble “Bebe” Mengistu wore pink hard hats during their recent inspection.  While the ladies are happy to wear pink protective gear, we were told that male workers typically prefer yellow or white hats.  However, workers who forget their own construction hats are given a pink one, which must be worn if they remain on the premises.  A day in the traditionally “feminine” hue helps them remember to bring their own hard hat in the future.  “Hat’s off” for the power of color!
